The Bennett journey
Some photo shoots stay with me forever and the Bennett family’s newborn session is one of them. This was not just any session – it was a very much longed-for and deeply cherished moment.
When little Noah came into the studio for his very first photo shoot, he brought with him not only that irresistible newborn sweetness, but also a story of hope, love, and resilience. Every image I capture tells a story, but with the Bennett family, I knew I was helping to complete a very long chapter in their lives.
I discovered part of their journey through Abigail’s Instagram, where she bravely shared her path to motherhood. Reading her words, I could feel the longing, the heartbreak, and the determination. Noah is not only loved – he is a dream fulfilled, a reminder of the strength it sometimes takes to become a family.
As someone who has also known the heartbreak of struggling to have a family, these sessions mean everything to me. To witness that joy and to capture it for families like the Bennetts is the greatest honour.
And the joy didn’t stop there – Noah wasn’t the only special guest that day. Honey, their beautiful dog, came along too. If you have a dog, you’ll know exactly why – our pets are as much a part of the family as anyone else. I love when families include their dogs in newborn sessions because those images speak volumes about love and togetherness.
That said, to keep the session calm for your baby, I do ask that if you bring a dog along, you let me know in advance. I’ll make sure my own dog goes to a family member’s home for the day, and I’ll also ask that you bring someone who can take your pup home after about ten minutes. That way, we can capture those all-important family images with everyone together – and then allow your dog to relax, rather than waiting patiently in the corner while we focus on those gentle newborn moments.
If you’re thinking about booking a session and would love to include your pet, please do get in touch. I’d be more than happy to have a chat and share more details about how we can make it work beautifully. After all, these photographs are about your whole story – and that includes every member of the family, four-legged ones too.
But most of all, the Bennett family’s session is a reminder of why I do what I do. After such a long, difficult journey, their story has found its happy ending in the form of sweet little Noah. Watching them hold him, seeing their smiles, and capturing those quiet moments of love felt like the perfect conclusion to their chapter of waiting – and the start of something even more beautiful.
Every time I look back at their images, I’m reminded that hope is always worth holding onto. And for the Bennetts, their happy ending is really just the beginning.
