FAQ’s
“Got questions? I’ve got you covered!”
I’ve created a detailed guide full of inspiration, tips and all the information you’ll need for each type of shoot I offer. If you’d like a copy, simply fill out my contact form and I’ll send it your way. In the meantime, you might find the answer to your question right here in the FAQs below!
“Where is the shoot?”
I'm based in Armthorpe, Doncaster and work from my cosy, purpose built home studio filled with natural light.
“What types of shoots are available?”
I offer a range of natural, relaxed photography sessions including pregnancy, newborn, sitter, family and one-year milestone shoots.
“What outfits shall I bring for my baby?”
Neutral tones, soft textures and simple patterns photograph beautifully. I have more advise on clothing in my detailed guide I can email to you.
“What do I wear for my pregnancy shoot?”
Soft, flowing dresses or fitted outfits that highlight your bump in neutral and earthy tones work well. Comfort is key, choose something that makes you feel confident and relaxed.
“What stage is best to bring my newborn?”
Ideally between 7–14 days, when your baby is still sleepy and curled up. Don't worry if that window passes—older newborns are just as beautiful, and I’ll tailor the session to suit your little one.
“When is the best time for a pregnancy shoot?”
Between 28-34 weeks, when your bump is beautifully round but you’re still feeling comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the experience.
“How do I know when to book my newborn shoot for if I'm still pregnant?”
If you're expecting, it's best to book your session based on 10 days past your due date. This is obviously flexible and can be moved if baby has other idea’s. It generally works well as a guide and we’ll keep in touch when the due date approaches.
“What if my baby is unsettled?”
It’s completely normal! The session is baby-led, with plenty of time for cuddles, feeds and settling. There’s no rush—we go at your baby’s pace.
“How long is a shoot?”
Newborn sessions on average last around one and a half hours. This gives us time to relax, feed and settle as needed. Sitter, one year and family sessions are a little shorter at usually 45–60 minutes. Just enough time for lots of natural smiles and moments, before you little ones get too bored or tired.
“Can I bring my other children to my new born shoot?”
Of course! I make sure big brothers or sisters feel involved and important too, always having their own shining moment within the shoot.
“Can I bring my dog along”
Dogs are part of the family too, so I’d love to try and include your dog where possible. If it’s a newborn shoot then I request for a family member or friend to collect your dog after 20 minutes or so. This mean’s we keep the studio environment relaxed and we don’t sacrifice the quality of your shoot. Just give me a heads-up if this is something you would like to do.
“What is a sitter shoot?”
A sitter shoot is typically done when your baby is around 6–8 months old and confidently sitting up on their own—but not yet crawling. It’s the perfect age to capture their growing personality, gorgeous expressions and those irresistible baby rolls!
“Do you have different backgrounds for your one year shoots?”
I don’t, I simply use the background of my white studio. I love a clean and natural style. If you’re thinking balloons and themes, then I’m not the photographer for you!
“Can I bring a cake along to my child’s one-year shoot?”
One year shoots are all about capturing your little one’s exactly as they are at this time. Whether they’re shy, full of beans, crawling or even taking their first steps. If you wish to bring a cake along then we’ll get it out towards the end of the shoot and have some fun!!!
